If wrong, press CORRECT ??
Confusing word usage seen at CitiBank Quick Cash Machine (the one that can be used to deposit and withdraw cash.)
I think CORRECTION is a better word to use.

The phone war heats up...
(Mypaper, Monday 25 Jun 2012, A12 )
Not long after Tim Cook heats up the war by saying that they will develop their own map system (and hence cutting off any reliance with Google, Samsung fights back by offering an app where users can seamlessly convert their iPhone data to Android platform on their SIII. Smart!

Have you wonder how much electricity your iPhone or iPad consume?
Screenshot from:
http://www.todayonline.com/Technology/EDC120622-0000080/It-costs-just-S$1,74-to-charge-an-iPad-for-a-year
WOW...In the entire year, you only spend a total of USD$1.36 to charge your iPad and USD$0.38 to power your iPhone.
As comparison, 60W bulb cost USD$1.61, desktop PC cost USD$28.21 and refrigerator will set you back USD$65.72.
I am sure most don't really care whether it cost USD$1.36 or USD$13.60 or even USD$136 to power the iPad. I mean, even USD$136 a year works out to be about USD$0.30 a day which is still by means affordable.
However, for the most cost conscious people who would do anything just to save the $0.01, will they use the iPad to light their rooms, listen to radio, or just buy an iPad to entirely replace their desktop PC?

Hi-Fi?...Oh, Hi-Fi
(Mypaper, Friday, 16 Jun 2012)
Reading just the headlines, it got me for the few moments what new wireless technology like Wi-Fi Hi-Fi is.
Then reading the next few lines make me realise Hi-Fi has got something to do with sound system, not wireless technology...

"Please mind the platform gap"
Incident happened on 01 Jun 2012
Incident happened on 13 Jun 2012
(Both photos from stomp.com.sg)
Sometimes I just wonder. The MRT system have been running for 20 over years and over all these years, there has been nought people who got stuck the platform gap, or at least reported. Then in a period of less than 15 days, there are not 1 but 2 incidents that people's leg got stuck in the platform gap.
I don't think it is these people who are careless, and I sympathize with them too as they are victims. The problem as the technology improves, isn't these gap supposed to be smaller?
Shouldn't it be a point where SMRT constant announcements of "Please mind the platform gap" can be eliminated totally because there is no chance that a person's leg can fall though the small gap. Not even one of a child.
The way I see it, as subway trains technology improves, the gap seems to be getting bigger. Big enough for a leg to go through. Maybe in the next 10 years, the gap gets so big that the train operators will have to change its announcement to "Please mind and not fall into the platform gap"

PC Show 2012
For those who went to the PC Show 2012 (7-10 Jun 2012) on the 10th Jun 2012, you may experience this...
At one point, the crowd is so extreme that they have to regulate the escalators (READ: STOP PEOPLE FROM ENTERING) for a good 15 minutes or so.
The above photo shows the crowd in front of me while the below photo shows the crowd behind me.

Train Stations Display
Hence, from the other end of the station, even if the timing is displayed full sized on the screen, one will have to strain one's eye to roughly make sense of what it is displaying.
To make matters worse, probably due to revenue issues, SMRT have to put advertisements (usually movies trailers) on these screens and the timing size is reduced to a tiny font on top of the advertisement which is usually not visible to one of average eye sight 1 carriage away.
Why don't the train operators consider have an extra screen at the other end of the platform? With prices that every family can afford, these flat screen displays cannot be too expensive for the train operators to buy.
To go one step further, since there are so many 'gei gong' (useless) announcements, why don't we replace some useless ones with useful ones like
"The next South-bound train will arrive in 2 minutes", "East-bound train will arrive in approximately 3 minutes".
Won't that be more useful than all those current announcement?
And you can have all the advertisements on the screen you like.
